Well, parivir (yojimbo…maybe using the original name was better since parivir is a pretty unknown term…I myself had to research a bit til I find its meaning) was used at FFTA2 and seems to be at same time the same as FF samurai concept and different from real samurai concept. While they both use great katana as weapon, that would be where the similarities end. Here I’ll treat them more like samurais as a military force…a heavy-armored warrior that focus in defeating foes while the parivir would be a light-armored tank that would excel in a one-on-one fight.
Parivir
Parivir here will be considered a tank class. A somewhat evasive, light-armored tank that can be easily subdued by groups of monsters…even pretty weaker monster groups…but that can overwhelm even the strongest enemies if taken to the one-on-one challenge. The idea here is like you dancing with the monster, not spamming actions…for every action of it you have a reaction, for every attack a counterattack, for every situation a technique that was made specifically for that.
In short, it would be a heavily retaliative class. Differently from current tanks that require large amounts of stamina and TP to generate enmity, parivirs will be a weak damage, fast-paced class that would use WSs that would often require very low TP cost (250-500), no stamina cost and lots of player attention. Here some examples of its actions:
-Mistform Blade: Deals slashing damage to target. Can only be used after evading an attack. (250 TP) - Hoarfrost Blade: Deals slashing damage to target. Can only be used after the target evading your attack. (250 TP) -Searingedge Blade: Deals slashing damage to target. Can only be used after parrying an attack. (250 TP) - Swordbuster Blade: Deals slashing damage to target. Can only be used after the target parrying your attack. (250 TP) -Sidegrip Blade: Deals slashing damage to target. Can only be used after blocking an attack. (250 TP) -Screwdriver Blade: Deals slashing damage to target. Can only be used after the target blocking your attack. (250 TP) -Mirrored Blade: Deals slashing damage to target. Can only be used after missing an attack. (250 TP) -Weakseeker Blade: Deals slashing damage to target. Can only be used after the enemy missing you. (250 TP) -Skyfury Blade: Deals slashing damage to target and increases enmity. Can only be used after landing a retaliation WS. (500) -Breathlock Blade: Deals slashing damage, stuns target and reduces its TP to 0. Can only be used while the enemy is readying a TP move. (1000 TP) -Ragingshade Blade: Deals damage equals to the damage sustained. Can only be used after receiving damage from enemy. (1000 TP) -Sealedcross Blade: Deals radial AoE slashing damage. Can only be used after defeating an enemy. Consumes remaining TP to increase radius. (2000 TP) -Medusaglare Blade: Petrifies both you and the target. Target’s petrify duration decreases as the rank difference to target increases. Can only be used if the target is attacking you. Consumes remaining TP to increase target’s petrify duration. (2000 TP)
You might think “Heck…only here you listed 13 WSs…if we get tier II of all them there would be 26 WSs!”…well, yes! Parivir will mainly only learn WSs. The non-WS actions it would learn are Mythrilskin (Uses the bare arm as shield, increasing your block rate. Ends after blocking an attack), Unburden Soul (self KO to fully restore HP of all allies in range and grant them perpetual attack bonus. The bonus fades when the current enemy is defeated), Challenging Gaze (increases enmity of all your actions if you and the target are facing each other), Intimidating Gaze (adds slow to and increases the readying time of TP moves of targets if you and the target are facing each other). Obviously the gaze actions’ effect fades if they lose sight of each other.
This class would work perfectly as single target tank, also increasing the options for other tanks since most of tanking WSs are currently blunt damage.
