Chapter III: Leves part 1 - Battlecraft, fieldcraft, faction and local leves

The leves are the base of the game. The way to employ adventurers, crafters, gatherers….but why? The leves have no real impact to the game right now…they are only a way of players to earn some gil, skill points and experience points.

And here is where my idea comes in…I suggest leves some more immersion! Now let’s talk about each leve type.

We have the guildleves, leves offered by each guild to adventures in a urge of a job. Guildleves can be Battlecraft Leves, offered by class guilds to ask for adventurers’ support, Fieldcraft Leves, offered by the gathering guilds in need of support and Local Leves, offered by crafter guilds in need of support and faction leves, offered by eorzean faction in need of help.

Right now there is no major difference between these leves…but there should be! If the Astalicia is asking for help and the Coral Tower too, but we get many more adventuresrs supporting the Astalicia call, it should give the Astalicia an edge over Coral Tower regarding local influence.

So, for battlecraft ones, the first step would be adding a local tally involving the local class guilds. Maybe adding special leves that are only offered when a guild is in first, having rewards oriented to that class, etc. Also, another good point would be we having a similar system used to faction leves for battlecraft leves too…we have guild marks as guild currency…why not being able to “buy” guild-specific leves? Maybe using the tally for this…the 3rd place guild offering no class-specific leve, the 2nd place offering some common class-specific leves and only the 1st place guild having tough, expensive class-specific leves whose reward is focused on that class…maybe actions, maybe traits, maybe class-specific gear…who knows…maybe it would be a good way to even give access to Artifact Armors here.

About Fieldcraft, we should make leves being the way we deal with the areas. With leves going from gathering and exploring ones like we having right now to the opposite…restoration leves! We could have every area having its own “exploration gauge” for BTN, MIN and FSH…the lower the gauge is, lower the grade of that area…and lower grade would means less skill point reward and more common materials gathered. The leves offered by gathering guilds would follow these gauges…if an area has a too low gauge then the leves offered there would be mainly restoration ones, with restoration leves offering much better reward and gathering leves offering poor reward, meaning that the area has poor resources. In other hand, if the gauge is high then this means the area is plenty of resourses, making gathering leves offer great rewards while restoration leves not offering good rewards.

Now local leves…these are important! They should affect directly the supplies of each city-state! There should be a leve for every item sold at local non-regional vendor. Having local shops requesting guilds for specific material would be awesome. Let’s use as example the Thundersquall Thundersticks. They could have only the rank 1 weapons available all the times, but multiple leves requesting other weapon models. If we get a minimum number of players completing a certain leve then that item would become available in the vendor for a while…as example, if we have a leve asking bronze daggers and the minimum amount of leves was completed then the shop would sell bronze daggers for, let’s say, the next week. Also, if way more players than the minimum completed that quest, the offer of that weapon would increase drastically (virtually speaking), causing the price at vendor to drop accordingly. In other hand, if the minimum amount of leves weren’t completed, the item would be removed from vendor for the next week. Same would work for gathering leves too when we look at shops like Hyaline or seventh sage, that sell raw materials, or even the guild vendors themselves.

About faction leves, they can just stay as they are, but with us having the lower tier faction leves free and rewarding faction marks instead of having common leves evaluated by factions. This way, if a player wants to farm marks from a specific faction to be able to buy a higher tier faction leve, he could easily do it. Also, having factions more active in certain cities or regions would be much cooler than it is now…maybe making them also being in the influence tally with local guilds (but factions taking part in all tallies while local guilds only taking place in that region’s tally) and they only being able to offer faction leves in the areas they have high influence.

Now in the part 2 i'll talk about leve mechanics and adventurer leves!
