Different from CON, THM is a mage class with his own dilemmas, which are very close to dark knight ones! It’s a very powerful class offensively, but that pays for this with its own HP and enmity. This is what I would like to see expanded on THMs…it has an awesome concept, but still it could be much stronger and more noticeable at class.
About the changes added by dev team, there are a few I do agree with, even if just partially. And this is the removal of AoE option of certain spells. I agree when people said sacrifice wasn’t “really” a sacrifice before…because due cone AoE THMs always were hit by their spells, removing the risk involving continuous usage of it. Same goes for siphon and absorb spells. Balance-wise it was a good thing they losing the AoE possibility. But all I agreed ends here.
I think the class should have more impact regarding its dilemmas…I loved how strong Blood Rite was and how much enmity it generated…that was a fair deal. That was what THM needs! Same goes for single target Sacrifice and Shadowsear…paying the power with its own HP! Because, in the end, THM does could be a tank. Even if it was just using cloth, it had what was needed to tank…and it should stay like that!
Some suggestions for THM I’d add would be enforcing its native potential, like adding traits and actions that help the class! Here some examples:
Blood Tie: (trait) Makes every spell consume 5% of the maximum HP in exchange of increased potency by the same amount.
Way of Hatred: (trait) Increases the accuracy of all spells in exchange of increased enmity generation.
Soul Enforce: (action, 5 min recast) Consumes 100 HP to force next spell to become AoE.
And these are just examples…some other changes I’d love seeing is to move Paradigm Shift to CON since CON’s radial AoE is much more strategic than THM one. I’d also make Initiation pass away up to 4 status effect of any kind to target, not only absorb effects.
This would make THM much more strategic, but without changing the original concept of the class. And, about next part, LNC and PGL.
