I finally grab my lance and wield it towards the sky, proud of my current accomplishments, but they are just he beginning...

I have finally began my journey as a Lancer. It took a little longer than I expected, but I think it was better this way. I feel like I have trained up in long distance running, and then decided to do short distance. I'm not entirely sure how to do it, but I have a much better idea than starting for the first time.

Wow, did my previous training pay off. I returned to Gridania, my homeland, to partake in mastering my lance after I picked up some more appropriate gear. I turned to marmots at first, and realized they were easy game. I picked up 7 Guildleves and headed back out to Bentbranch. To put it nicely, I slaughtered everything in sight. Once I hit rank 4 I was casting cure and protect on myself for an easy time. The 5 star Guildleve monsters fell to my lance like they were raindrops falling from the sky.

I moved on to Emerald Moss once I had finished the first 4 Guildleves. With three more in tow I pushed on farther. I flexed the difficulty of the leves at this camp since I was only rank 6, but until the last Guildlleve it didn't matter. My skills were able to carry me through even tougher battles, along with my MP pool.

The one tough Guildleve I faced was where the Chigoes and Galago attacked at the same time. The first 2 sets of them were no issue at all. The third and fourth attack one after the other with no break between for preparation. After I put my lance through the first two, a bee swarm joined into the fun. Taking on three mobs was fun, but two well placed Skewers brought it down to me and a galago. For some reason this one wouldn't go down, so we traded blows and I used cure to keep myself in the fight for some time. It was the longest solo fight I have embarked on. When it finally went down though, I had accomplished Rank 9 of my Lancer mastery.

...And so, the Legend of the Lancer, Holy Dragoon, is born.

Last night, the adventurers of Seraphim gathered together to participate in some Factionleves. Dart picked up the ambitious Rank 40 Factionleve... We gathered together at Camp Bloodshore, even though we were spread around Eorzea. The Aetherite Crystals do really help us all get around.

With our Factionleves at hand we tore out and made quick work of enemies in La Noscea. Afterward we headed for the big game, the beast men at the gates of Ishgard. They were waiting for us... They packed a punch. As mages, we adopted positioning to take advantage of their conical attacks, until our archer Toeknee asked thought I was going to aggravate another of the beastmen... He asked that I move in closer, so I did (he had a better vantage point), and felt the wrath of their TP based attacks first hand.

After recovering we went back at them with more success. We took some more losses, but kept driving through them. Shell and Protect wore off, and we took a major hit. Many of us died, but those who lived managed to wipe out the last one. Success was ours, and the spoils were 6500 Gil each. Not a bad take in by any means. Enough to fund the lance I need to go purchase in Gridania...

Our First Rank 40 Factionleve Complete!! Also thanks Dart for the new Feather Plumed Crook, and thanks David for wasting 12 Amima on a really easy gathering Faction Leve where we didn't have to kill one thing.

Real progress is upon me! The last time we spoke, I was but a Rank 12 Conjurer. Now, I have arose almost to my current training goal of Rank 20. This milestone will be a pillar corner stone in my progression as an adventurer in Eorzea. It will signify significant changes in what I can and can’t do in the world, but more importantly it will signify the birth of my Lancer.

Now how did I get there, where did the jump come from? Well now that life outside Eorzea settled down, I was determined to find some good places to grow. Well, I was successful in that thanks to a member of Seraphim I discovered the Island crab. Now one might say that at Rank 14, these beasts are too much trouble for most. You would also be correct, they were too much for me. However in a group with a few people above Rank 20, it made it easy for me to stand back a bit and practice my spell casting. This got me through the next few levels, which were pretty rough in terms of skill gained. Now though it is paying off in dividends. Rank 20 is within my sight. The next time I share my journey, it will be with a Lance in hand, that I promise.

I also wanted to touch a little on what happened when I achieved rank Rank 15, as it flew by through all of this. It did now stop me from participating in the rituals of Gridania, and attempting to cleanse my woodsin. The events that followed in Gridania shocked me, I was even able to delve into the past, but how… In the end we saved a life, almost at the cost of another. At what price though? The wood troubles me… I fear it is no longer safe for those who travel through it.
