LXXII: Nomad Masters
Chapter LXXII: Nomad Masters

Nomad Masters are a type of solo endgame similar to FFFXI’s Maat fight. While it wouldn’t be related to level cap, the main design would be the very same, offering an extremely challenging solo content, with the possibility of even being instanced at several points so, while the players can have help from other players at certain parts, the main fights would be solo.

You see…FFXI offered some very nice solo battlefields like cap 70 Maat fights, mini fork prime fights, fellow NPC battles among many others. The idea here is to bring this very same idea to FFXIV.

However, the nomad masters system would be very tricky and rewarding…enough to be considered a solo endgame. The idea here is to have multiple quest series that can be taken one at a time (if you pick the quest serie “A” you can only start the serie “B” upon completing the serie “A” or by abandoning it)…each quest will bring the story of one of the nomad masters, wandering warriors that go from calm shepherds to frenzy pirates, from very nice people til extremely evil NPCs.

Each of these masters will have their story that would always end in them showing an exclusive action. This action is the main goal here. Over the quests you would train, do errands, help with battles…all to achieve the right of learning the action.

Once the quest serie was completed the player would receive a riddle to solve and the nomad master would vanish. While finding the nomad master to accept quests is already an annoyance since he would never stop moving in the region, to find them for the last quest would be even more.

For quests you can just see the NPC wandering and talk to him, being more a matter of effort in searching the region than anything else…but for last one the riddle will point the entrance of an instance, not being visible at all. Also, one quest can offer several different riddles, them all pointing to different areas so it would require some effort to solve it and then find the entrance.

Once inside, you will be required to face the last challenge (often being defeating the nomad master…but this can change depending of the type of NPC) and, by besting it, you would learn the action.

These actions would be “all classes”, also not being under affinity rules, what can make them extremely interesting actions to know.

Also, it would be nice this event, once cleared (all nomad masters defeated), you having a full party event similar to Divine Might fight, randomly picking 15 nomad masters (in case there are more than 15) to face a full party of players. As reward, the player would be able to pick one accessory of choice that would have the specific effect of improving the action of the accessory owner (example: If you learned the “Air Render” action from Master Bho’Doh Vacuumblade, by picking the Bho’Doh Armilla accessory you know it will improve the performance of Air Render).

This way, this would offer a solo endgame, which is good to have and rare to see at MMOs, also offering interesting rewards and even an additional “bonus event” for those that cleared it, with the chance of having the actions from this endgame improved by the usage of accessories! ^^
