As all of you who follow me know this fishing chart is a massive project. I do it because I enjoy doing it and I also try to keep it as accurate as possible. But because of how many bait vs fish combos there are it may take a very long time to complete this chart, Fishing is my main Disciple of Land job, but I have DoW/M and DoH jobs I enjoy playing as well.
I know a bunch of you have been sending me messages about which wait is favored for fish I have not yet researched yet. I would like to start including this information in the charts better so I have put together a simple system to assist me with not only adding bait/favor combos I don't yet have, but also updating combos that may be inaccurate. Accuracy
I want this chart to be as accurate as possible. But the fishing notification "SOMETHING BIG HITS YOUR LINE/THE FISH SEEM TO BE BITING ON" message does not appear on every single bite even when the fish favors that bait.
For instance. Awhile back when I first started this project I was fishing freshwater with Chocobo Flies. I fished nearly 1,000 crayfish (No Joke!) before I ever got a single Something Big
Long story short, it can be inconstant, so there is always a chance for error when I decide to move onto a new fishing hole. If I notice a favored bait combo I had missed while fishing later I obviously correct it. But with your help I can make this chart even more accurate.
Filling in the Blanks
Those of you who have been using my charts know I have two, one for Freshwater and one for Saltwater. I am currently working strictly on the Saltwater chart. I want to fully finish saltwater before I move onto the freshwater areas.
MANY of you have sent me messages with information on combos I have not yet added to the charts. I want to utilize this information and get it on the charts so that it becomes more of a community effort, it helps the chart get larger updates, it will help the chart be completed faster so I can move onto testing other aspects of fish and putting together some other fishing guides. So, the question is how can you help?...
Community Submissions for Favored Bait Charts (AKA: Screenshot or it didn't happen!)
As of now I will start accepting submissions from you to either fix something on the charts that are inaccurate or to add information that is completely empty at this time.
1. If you find in your fishing that I have a fish listed as Normal/Not Favored for a bait but you get a Something Big/Fish Are Biting On message screenshot chat window. The screenshot must include The Something Big/Fish Seem to be Biting on <Lure Name> message in the chatbox as well as the notification that proves you reeled it in and what fish it was. (See Example Image Below)
(highlighted Text is what is important)
2. Upload the photo for me. I do not care where it is uploaded/hosted. Flickr, Imageshack, Photobucket etc.. Whatever, just upload it and post the link is the COMMENT SECTION of this blog entree or on the chart entree itself. Either is fine, I will check them both. As long as I can view the link and confirm it all I will update the chart with this information.
Anyone who submits information used on the chart will be given a thank you credit on the chart page!

(1.0 OLD) Vesper's Favored Bait Chart for Fishers
Information contained within is outdated as of October 31st 2012. The completely overhauled A Realm Reborn: Final Fantasy XIV is due to release August 27th, 2013 and has been completely overhauled in nearly every way. This page has officially become a 'Historical Record'.

 | Where you say "Great Bite Rate," what do you mean? My favored to unfavored bait records only go as far as the game's telling me the fish prefers that bait. "The fish seem to be biting on [bait]. Something big hits your line!" Is that how you're doing it as well? |

| | Fishing Cedarwood on Goby Balls, I received the favored bait messages on all these: Fresh Lobster (on the leve, of course), Ash Tuna, and Hammerhead Shark. Also found it favored for Bianaq Bream, White and Blue Coral, but you already have those. I did not get the message on any of the Malm Kelp that I caught, but that was only about five catches. |

| | Tonight's fishing at Nophica Wells, depth -4... On the leve, Syrphid Baskets came up favored for Mature Monke Onke. In about 20 casts on each, Midge Baskets and Rat Tails both came up favored for Ala Mhigan Fighting Fish, Bone Crayfish, and Crimson Crayfish. Neither bait hooked any Monke Onke. In 70 casts on Crayfish Balls, it was favored for Crayfish (hooked 19 times) and Crimson Crayfish (the message only came up a few times, but hooked 16 sets). It hooked 18 sets of Bone Crayfish, 15 sets of Ala Mhigan, and two sets of Monke Onke, with no favored messages on these three types. |

| | thanks for the info, I will check and add when I get a chance (about a week from now, after I get back from vacation) feel free to keep posting. And btw I have tested all baits vs malm kelp except indigo herring... it does not havea favored bait, but that makes sense, its just kelp. |

As this is just a bait chart, it makes no sense for me to add it in. Though sometime down the line I will likely put together some other charts together for that. |
